Open Data Management
1. Commitment to Open Science and FAIR Data
The International Journal of Open Science promotes transparency and reproducibility in research, aligning with the FAIR Principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable). Therefore, it encourages responsible data management and open access to research data generated in published works.
2. Data Deposit and Recommended Repositories
Authors must deposit the datasets generated during their research in open, recognized, and publicly accessible repositories. The following are especially recommended:
- Zenodo
- Dryad
- Figshare
- OSF (Open Science Framework)
- Institutional or subject-specific repositories that comply with international standards
3. Recommended Licenses and Formats
To ensure equitable reuse and access, it is recommended that data be published under open licenses such as:
- CC0 (Public Domain)
- CC BY 4.0
Additionally, datasets should be stored in open formats such as: CSV, JSON, XML, or TXT.
4. Data Linking and Citation
Each dataset should have a DOI or another persistent identifier. Authors must reference the data in the manuscript using the appropriate citation format, clearly indicating their availability.
5. Exceptions and Sensitive Data
When ethical, legal, or confidentiality constraints exist (e.g., involving personal data), authors must justify the access restriction and provide descriptive metadata in closed or controlled-access repositories.
