Revista Logos’ Publication Ethics and Publication Statement of Conduct and Best Practices are based on COPE’s Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors (http://publicationethics.org).
Duties and Responsibilities of the Editors
The Editorial Board should strive to treat all authors equally in order to carry out the editorial process in compliance with all ethical guidelines contained in this statement.
Publication Decisions
The journal editor is responsible for deciding which articles submitted to the journal should be published. Given the requirement of originality for works submitted to Logos, the editor evaluates the article in order to confirm that it is an original publication that has not been previously published, identifying any plagiarism by means of different software available for free:

If plagiarism is suspected or detected in a submitted manuscript, the journal will contact the submitting authors (http://publicationethics.org/files/All_Flowcharts_Spanish_0.pdf) following COPE’s recommendations.
Fair Play
An editor must at all times assess manuscripts exclusively considering its intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnicity, nationality or political philosophy of the authors.
Confidentiality
Information about manuscripts submitted to the journal for review should not be disclosed by the editor or any members of the Editorial Board. The editor can only exchange information with the author, editors, editorial advisors and editorial board members as long as it is required.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
Unpublished works submitted to the journal should not be used in investigations done by editor without the express consent of the author. Authors should declare possible conflicts of interest regarding the sponsorship of research, informed consent or any possible commercial interest of the data presented. The evaluators should identify conflict of interests that may arise because of not having enough knowledge of the subject of the investigation or having been a close collaborator of the author evaluated.
Duties of Reviewers
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
The reviewer will assist the editor when performing any editorial decisions and will provide guidance to the author to improve the content of their article by means of editorial communications.
Timeframe
If a referee feels unqualified to review any article or is aware that it will be impossible to comply with the timeframe required to submit their opinion, they should justify their absence from the review process by notifying the editor as soon as possible.

Confidentiality
Manuscripts submitted for review will be treated with total confidentiality.
Objectivity standards
Review decisions will be based on objective criteria following the Assessment Protocol. Referees’ decisions should include arguments that support their assessments and recommendation of publication. Personal judgments should not be expressed by the referee.
Sources Recognition
The reviewers should identify relevant published works that have not been cited by the authors. Any observation, derivation or argument previously stated should be expressed with appropriate citation. A reviewer should also alert the editor if any similarity or overlap is produced between the manuscript under revision and other previously published works.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Any privileged information or idea obtained from a manuscript under the arbitration process should be kept confidential by the reviewer. The information should not be used for the reviewer’s personal benefit. Manuscripts that may have conflicts of interest with their own work or competition processes, collaboration with other authors, companies or institutions should not be evaluated by the reviewer.
Duties of Authors
Standards
An accurate description of the work performed, as well as an objective exhibition of its meaning, should be provided by authors of original research. The underlying data should be represented accurately in the work. An investigation should contain sufficient details, references and citations in order to be replicated by others.
Fraudulent or intentional inaccurate statements constitute unethical and unacceptable behavior.
When submitting work, authors must also sign the Conflict of Interest and Author Agreement Form.
Information Access and Retention
Authors are asked to provide information in relation to the article under review. Such information should be publicly accessible if possible. The author should be prepared to keep such information during a reasonable period of time after their publication.
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors should ensure that they have written a completely original work. If they have used others’ work, it must be appropriately cited.
Multiple Redundant or Concurrent Publications
Manuscripts describing essentially the same experiment should not be published in more than one journal. The submission of the same manuscript to more than one journal constitutes an unethical behavior and is unacceptable from an editorial point of view.
Source Recognition
The recognition of other works must always be considered. Publications that have influenced the development of the research should be appropriately cited.
Authorship
Authorship should be limited to those who have carried out a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution or interpretation of the work submitted. All those who made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors.
Others who have participated in certain specific aspects of the project should be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The corresponding author should ensure that all co-authors and collaborators have been appropriately included and listed in the submitted project. They all should approve of the final version and agree to submit it for publication.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
All authors should disclose any conflicts of interest that could be significant in the interpretation of the manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project must be acknowledged.
Errors in published works
When a significant error or inaccuracy in the publication is found by the author, it should be notified to the journal editor or its representatives as soon as possible in order to help them to correct it or withdraw its publication when appropriate.
