Repositories

Repository Policy

The International Journal of Open Science encourages the deposit of articles and supplementary materials in open repositories with the aim of maximizing accessibility, preservation, and visibility of scientific output. This policy follows the recommendations of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), the FAIR Principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable), and the best practice standards of COPE, DOAJ, OASPA, and WAME.

1. Deposit and Open Access

Authors are encouraged to deposit preprint, postprint, and final versions of their articles in institutional, subject-specific, or general repositories such as Zenodo, ArXiv, SciELO Preprints, RePEc, or PubMed Central.

There are no embargo restrictions for repository deposit, in accordance with the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Deposited content must remain freely accessible without restrictions, allowing reading, downloading, and reuse with proper attribution.

2. Credits and Attribution

Authors must include a reference to the version published in the International Journal of Open Science, including its DOI and complete citation data.

It is recommended to use structured metadata and persistent identifiers such as ORCID for authors, DOI for articles, and ROR for institutional affiliations.

3. Long-Term Preservation and Stability

Authors should prioritize repositories with reliable digital preservation policies that ensure the continued availability of their work.

The journal collaborates with preservation platforms and systems to ensure stable and long-term access to its published content.

4. Interoperability and Open Science

Use of repositories compatible with interoperability standards such as OAI-PMH, Dublin Core, and OpenAIRE is encouraged.

Authors are also encouraged to share research data, code, methodologies, and other supplementary materials in open repositories linked to their articles.

5. Promoting Knowledge and Scientific Collaboration

This policy supports the vision of a globally connected scientific community, where open access to research results fosters collaboration, critical debate, and knowledge advancement.

The journal supports the use of preprints as a means to accelerate scientific communication and promote academic dialogue prior to formal publication.

Responsibility

Authors are responsible for complying with these guidelines when selecting a repository, thereby contributing to the journal’s mission of promoting open science and universal access to knowledge.
