Abstract
Background: The aging population has increased in recent years, and so has the female population in the climacteric and menopausal stages, posing new challenges for nursing.
Objective: To analyze the role of nursing in health promotion to promote the overall well-being of women during menopause and the climacteric.
Materials and methods: A systematic review was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines. Searches were performed in the PubMed, LILACS, and SciELO databases. The SPIDER tool was used to define the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and a critical reading guideline was applied.
Results: The results show that, although women use certain self-care strategies, they still have a significant lack of knowledge about climacteric and menopause. Likewise, nursing-led interventions and educational programs show positive effects, promoting increased knowledge, self-esteem, empowerment, and mental health in women at this stage. Conclusion: It is suggested that interdisciplinary research be strengthened to comprehensively address climacteric and menopause in primary health care.
