Abstract
Puerto Rico is a multicultural society, this implies the cohabitation of people belonging to different cultures in the same geographical space and that in some cases carry discriminative situations and intercultural conflicts in the social cohabitation. Because of the lack of psychological research on the dominican emigration particularly, we present the present work.
This article refers to the different themes and strategies to recollect information.
Among the main results it states that the discrimination against dominicans exists on the part of the State representatives and the media and in front of this we propose to educate the receptor society and to develop different strategies of citizen participation.
Methodologically, the use of photography to create conscience and sensibility on discrimination
and the intercultural conflict towards the dominican community is validated. Besides, we propose future studies which may contribute to a better comprehension of the intercultural relationships and of the conflicts which appear in the cohabitation process.
