Abstract

The present report is part of a greater research project and its main goal is to answer the
following question: How are gender policies reflected in textbooks of Elementary Education? In the theoretical approach we retake the biopolitic category as well as the technology of power of Michael Foucault and, as a research paradigm, the theory of the text of Paul Ricoeur. For this purpose we revised two 6th grade Elementary school textbooks: a Civic and Ethical Formation and, a Biology textbook. We also include in the analysis the opinion of teachers (men and female) about gender and education of sexuality. Some of the general reflections to which we arrived, show that the term gender has lessened its value emphasizing the individuality more than the collective endeavor, and reinforcing more the sexual dichotomy than the proper category of gender searches to discuss.
