Abstract
This article attempts to search the political and ideological reasons that justified, in its moment, and justify now the position of some sectors of the national politics its strong
opposition to recognize the education as a social right rather than a possession which is interchanged in the market. These reasons explain, among other things, the persistent defense of profit, selection and segregation as the basic components of the model of society
that we have in Chile and from which the education is a fundamental part. In virtue of the above the thesis that the human rights are political in their origin is defended, this
means that they originate first in politics and not so much in the right as in morals, which do not impede in any case that they may have a juridical correlate as well as ethical. Finally we attempt to demonstrate in the present text that the individual rights, to continue being such, must be translated into collective rights.
