ARCHAEOLOGICAL RESOURCES IN THE PROVINCE OF BENGUELA: ITS INSERTION IN THE CULTURAL TOURISM ROADMAP IN ANGOLA

Abstract

The value attributed to the archaeological heritage of places can expand the offer of unique tourist products and services in a region and drag a demand of tourists interested in the analysis and interpretation of material culture, a legacy of ancestors expressed in objects and artifacts and inserting them into life current. The province of Benguela has potential historical and cultural tourist resources, outside the tourist circuit (itinerary), which should be boosted in the perspective of its economic profitability.This group includes archaeological sites, museums and sites that relive the lives of ancestors. This article aims to identify, characterize and enhance the local archaeological heritage as a tourist resource of great value and enhance archeotourism or archaeological tourism and place it in the province's cultural tourism itinerary. The investigation used bibliographic analysis, descriptive-exploratory research and field work. The qualitativecomparative analysis allowed us to know the different places and relate them to cultural tourism, with special reference to archtourism.
