VIH y COVID-19: Una revisión narrativa rápida.
Resumen
Introducción: El impacto del SARS-CoV-2 en la pandemia del VIH, era desconocido en enero del 2020, pero transcurridos casi seis meses de la aparición del COVID-19, ya contamos con variadas publicaciones académicas de esta sindemia.
El presente artículo es una revisión narrativa rápida de la literatura científica actual sobre VIH y COVID-19.
Metodología: Se revisaron publicaciones en buscadores académicos a mediados de mayo del 2020 sobre VIH y COVID-19.
Se encontraron editoriales y cartas al editor, correspondencia, viewpoint, artículos originales [algunos pre-print], notas de campo y comentarios. Todos con valiosa información clínica sobre la relación entre ambas epidemias.
Desarrollo: Se clasificaron las publicaciones temáticamente en: respuesta clínica de personas VIH positivas afectadas por el COVID-19, farmacología, mantención y adaptación de los servicios de salud sexual, lecciones del VIH para la respuesta al COVID-19, poblaciones clave, efectos psicosociales, estigma y discriminación.
Conclusiones: No hay evidencia de que personas VIH positivas, en TARV y por tanto, sin compromiso inmune, tengan mayor riesgo de COVID-19; tampoco en personas en etapa SIDA.
Sí hay evidencia de mayor riesgo con edad avanzada y comorbilidades. No hay evidencia que sostenga que el TARV es efectivo para el SARS-CoV-2.
Los servicios de salud sexual pueden y deben adaptarse a la contingencia. El VIH entrega importantes lecciones para la respuesta al COVID-19. Las poblaciones clave, requieren especial protección.
Los efectos psicosociales y el estigma y la discriminación del COVID-19 y el VIH, generan impactos en la respuesta de la epidemia.
