    The CODES 2023 Congress

    The CODES 2023 Congress will be held in association with LatinSoTL, the SoTL Network of Latin America and the Caribbean, hence this edition is promotednunder Fifth Congress on Teaching in Higher Education and First Latin America and Caribbean Congress on Innovation in Higher Education Research 2023. The integration of CODES 2023 will stimulate the construction of collaboration networks on the subject. This year the central focus of the Congress will be Artificial Intelligence: Threats, Challenges, and Opportunities in Higher Education.

    The CODES 2023 Congress aims to showcase the scope of Artificial Intelligence (AI), a technology that is introducing profound changes in every aspect of social activity, and higher education is no exception. AI can be used to automate processes, analyze large amounts of data, personalize learning, and enhance the efficiency of higher education, among other purposes. As AI develops, challenges and opportunities emerge, which rises the need of critical reflection concerning its implementation.
    The Latin American and the Caribbean Society of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (LatinSoTL) constitutes a community of academics and professionals committed to excellence and innovation in higher education. Dedicated to the promotion and development of SoTL, or Academic Teachin Approac, this society seeks to promote critical reflection and research on teaching practices and learning processes in universities. SoTL represents a global movement that encourages teachers and researchers to systematically explore their educational practices with the aim of enhancing the learning experience for students and teachers alike. Through the dissemination and socialization of experiences and findings related to teaching activities, LatinSoTL fosters a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration in the academic field, thus contributing to the advancement of higher education in Latin America and the Caribbean.

  • Teaching During the Pandemic: Analysis and Critical Evaluation of Academic Gaps: La Serena, November 24 and 25, 2022

    To enhance research in teaching in higher education and, based on it, to address the dynamic processes and transformations experienced by university teaching over time, ULS through the Vice-Rectorate for Research and Postgraduate Studies and the Academic Vice-Rectorate, created the Higher Education Teaching Congress (CODES) in 2019, which was held in person in the city of La Serena. Due to the health emergency, the

    2020, 2021, and 2022 editions were conducted remotely, particularly the CODES 2022 edition took place on November 24 and 25, coining the main idea "Teaching in the pandemic: Analysis and critical evaluation of academic gaps and their impact". The goal was to address teaching during the pandemic, to perform an analysis and critical evaluation of academic gaps and their impact.

    CODES 2022 brought together over 200 attendees and presented 41 contributions, creating a space for reflection to address the new challenges of learning recovery that universities are expected to face in the coming years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

    The thematic lines considered in CODES 2022 focused on 4 areas:

    Inclusion, socio-emotional skills, and mental health
    Systems for assessment and monitoring of learning processes
    Integration of ICT in the informative process
    Interdisciplinarity in curriculum formation and innovation.

  • Experiences, proposals, and challenges of teaching and learning in the new pregraduate and postgraduate scenarios 24 y 25 de Noviembre La Serena, Chile

    This abstract book corresponds to the third version of the Congress, CODES 2021, whose central theme was "Experiences, proposals, and challenges of teaching and learning in the new pregraduate and postgraduate scenarios". This third version, like the second, was conducted remotely.

    In this third edition, a session on socio-emotional skills and mental health was introduced, a topic that has gained strength in the academic community due to the confinement of both students and teachers. Highlights included presentations and discussions on Evaluation systems and monitoring of learning processes; Integration of ICT in the training process; Interdisciplinarity in training and curricular innovation; Inclusion, Disability, Gender, Interculturality, and Human Rights.

    El presente libro de resúmenes corresponde a la segunda versión del Congreso, el CODES 2020, cuya idea fuerza fue “innovación en pre y postgrado para enfrentar los desafíos de la enseñanza y aprendizaje en modalidad remota”. Justamente, debido a las circunstancias sanitarias que está enfrentando el país y el mundo a causa de la pandemia por coronavirus SARS CoV-2, esta segunda versión del Congreso fue llevada a cabo en modalidad remota.
