THE DARK TOURISM IN ANGOLA: SPECIAL REFERENCE OF ROADWAYS LOBITO-SUMBE AND BENGUELA-HUAMBO
Main Article Content
Abstract
Dark Tourism consists of visiting places linked to death and suffering such as battlefields, castles, areas of natural disasters among other places (attractions). In this sense, we believe that this modality can be promoted as a "tourism product" in Angola and the province of Benguela, taking into account the perspective of sustainable tourism, local development and knowledge of recent history and vicissitudes experienced by the populations; a legacy to be passed on to present and future generations. The present proposal emerges as an alternative to sustainable tourism, open to new business initiatives, aims at the generation of jobs and income as an instrument to fight hunger and poverty in the local communities that in times gone by were theater of war operations; places that in our view, are susceptible to a use as a unique tourist product.
