Abstract

The quality of teaching is one of the elements observed by those seeking an undergraduate degree. Through evaluations, an institution can demonstrate its level of quality. But evaluating is a complex task since there are
several instruments and informants. In addition, it is necessary to know how and for what to evaluate. In this work we seek to verify the existence of an evaluative culture in a University Center in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil,
working with the self-evaluation or internal evaluation instrument. Through a case study with a qualitative approach, using a semi-structured interview with three focus groups made up of teachers, it was found that some know the subject, but there is a need to install a process of evaluative culture in the institution, extending to the entire academic community.
