Resumen

El ciberbullying es un fenómeno psicosocial en el cual, el comportamiento de los espectadores, es crucial en la dinámica; sin embargo, aún se sabe poco sobre cómo y por qué éstos responden ante el fenómeno.

El estudio busca identificar las respuestas de los espectadores ante el ciberbullying; analizar diferencias entre testigos y no testigos de episodios de ciberbullying; y explorar si la necesidad de popularidad, la autoeficacia percibida y las normas sociales, predicen las respuestas. Participaron 835 adolescentes entre 11 y 18 años de edad.

Los resultados mostraron que la respuesta defensora fue la más común, aunque con diferencias entre quienes habían presenciado episodios de ciberbullying (predominantemente pasivas) y quienes no (mayormente defensivas). Estas respuestas fueron explicadas por las
variables mencionadas: pasiva (autoeficacia y normas de amigos); defensora (autoeficacia, normas de profesores y necesidad de popularidad); reforzadora (normas de amigos, familia y profesores y, necesidad de popularidad).

Los hallazgos son relevantes para el desarrollo de futuros programas psicoeducativos de prevención.
