https://revistas.userena.cl/index.php/ruta/article/view/2447

Public transport in Chile has faced challenges such as congestion, high fares and accessibility problems in some areas. Despite efforts to improve it, major challenges
still persist in its optimization at the national level. In particular, the cities of La Serena and Coquimbo have experienced similar challenges in public transport service, with the lack of regulation generating disparities in the quality of service.

These problems have affected students at all levels, especially university students, generating additional difficulties in improving urban mobility. This lack of regulation can affect user satisfaction, becoming a crucial aspect to address in order to improve the quality of public transport in these cities. The objective of this research is to analyze the perception of public transport in students of the University of La Serena within the La Serena-Coquimbo conurbation.
To achieve the objectives of the research, a mixed approach with a predominance in the quantitative is used, adopting a Sequential Explanatory Design (DEXPLIS).

The selected techniques include a survey of students at the University of La Serena and semi-structured interviews with experts on the subject and influential agents on the subject.
Through the analysis carried out, it was concluded that the perception that students have about the public transport service is negative due to its failure to meet basic
standards. This dissatisfaction stems from problems such as lack of empathy, security and poor response capacity. Addressing these deficiencies is crucial to improve the mobility experience of students and, ultimately, their quality of life.
Génesis Carolina Araya RiveraKarin Yaneth Ortloff Núñez

https://revistas.userena.cl/index.php/ruta/article/view/2444

The present research analyzes the perception of a group of higher education teachers in the Coquimbo Region, Chile, regarding continuous training in sensory inclusion and its implementation in teaching practices. This topic gains relevance due to the sustained increase in enrollment of students with sensory disabilities in the national higher education system. It also identifies teachers’ perceptions of those aspects of continuous training in inclusion that do not influence their teaching practice.

The purpose of the study is to identify strengths and weaknesses in the continuous training in sensory inclusion offered by higher education institutions. Its main objective is to analyze the perception of higher education teachers regarding the effectiveness of the sensory inclusion training they have received. Specific objectives include identifying their perceptions of such training, describing its impact on professional development, and comparing the elements perceived as less influential.

The study adopts a qualitative approach and an interpretative paradigm, using a case study design. A non-probabilistic convenience sampling was conducted, selecting six higher education teachers from various disciplines and institutions, including universities and professional institutes. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed according to the principles of Grounded Theory, following a rigorous process of coding and categorization.

The findings highlight the need for clear policies in higher education to support teachers through continuous training, accessible tools, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

This training, aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) No. 4 and No. 10, promotes inclusive strategies for students with sensory needs, promoting a more equitable and sustainable educational system.
Millaray del Carmen Moraga VargasSebastián Andrés Rossel Salas

https://revistas.userena.cl/index.php/ruta/article/view/2445

This paper analyzes the factors that motivate and condition the continuity of employment of older adults in La Serena, in a context of accelerated population aging in Chile and the Coquimbo Region.

Based on statistical data, a significant increase in the proportion of older adults is observed, posing challenges in their labor inclusion and economic well-being. The research seeks to understand how demographic characteristics, individual motivations and public policies influence their employment decisions after retirement.

The general objective is to analyze the factors that affect the employment continuity of older adults. Demographic and labor characteristics are identified, motivations and
barriers are explored, and public policies are evaluated to propose strategies to improve their labor inclusion and quality of life. The methodology used is a mixed approach with a sequential exploratory design (DEXPLOS), applying semistructured interviews and focus groups in the qualitative part, complemented with surveys for quantitative data.

Preliminary findings indicate that the main motivations include economic need, selfrealization, and the desire to remain active. However, they face barriers such as age
discrimination, unfavorable working conditions, and lack of opportunities. Local policies are perceived as insufficient to fully address their needs.

This research proposes even strategies that value the experience of older adults, encouraging their participation in the labor market and promoting their overall wellbeing
Miguel Ángel Álvarez CortésJaviera Tamara Cortés ArayaCristián Daniel Blanco Alfaro
