Quantitative descriptive research with a longitudinal approach is developed. The experience assumes that
involving trainees in authentic experiences (where external peer experts will be the evaluators of the work done) is the key to obtaining valid results in a context of generation and dissemination of knowledge. The results show that the pro-
posed process creates an effective system for students to learn to design and apply an applied research project, as well as to produce a scientific product for publication in indexed journals or conferences. The process also involves close accompaniment by the tutoring professor which, together with the phases and requirements described in this work, is a key factor in the training of university students as novice researchers and leads to a relevant experience, with outstand-
ing publications and a favorable perception on the part of the participating students and professor.
2023-11-08T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Raquel Ayala-Carabajo, Joe Llerena-Izquierdo https://revistas.userena.cl/index.php/codes/article/view/1946 UNESCO/IESALC methodological model for capacity de- velopment 2023-11-07T09:38:11-03:00 Ivory Mogollón i.mogollon@campusiesalc.org Yuma Insolia revistas@userena.cl Blanca Bernabe revistas@userena.cl
The world has changed a lot in recent decades and the current setting requires new tools and approaches to ways of working to evolve with them. The mobility and growth of humanistic, scientific and technological knowledge has led to differences in interactions and ways of working. It is for this reason that it is necessary to align efforts to manage and modify strategies to face these changes. Col-
laboration, discipline and dedication whilst making changes with an open mind to face the current environment must be prioritized.
UNESCO IESALC proposes a transformation approach that is generated from within, that is from the Higher Education Institutions themselves (IES), so that it is sustainable over time with the incorporation of a training approach focused on competencies with the following principles in the context of the 2030 sustainable development goals (SDGs): active teaching; student autonomy and independ-
ence; the use of technology, innovation and research as drivers of change management. In Chile, there is an important tradition of incorporating social currents in clinical careers such as medicine. In the case of the Medicine career of the Universidad de Atacama, its graduate profile expresses the training from the biopsychosocial approach, with critical, humanistic and social thinking, aspects in which the subject of Medical Sociology contributes.
In this sense, a widely used tool in humanistic subjects is the writing of reflective essays, which allow students to apply sociological concepts to their own medical
discipline. This paper analyzes remote learning assessment strategies designed by teachers of a University Institute in health sciences, in the context of training on this topic between 2020 and 2022. A Guide for designing remote learning assessments was built, revised and adjusted in successive iterations through its use in
new teacher training programs. In this paper, we present the analysis of more than 50 remote learning assessment strategies designed using the Guide in the context of a teacher training activity. It highlights the need
to analyze teaching practices and how they can promote learning, especially in the new context of post-pandemic hybridity.
2023-11-08T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Erica Delorenzi , Gisela Schwartzman, Laura Eder, Susana Meza, Michelle Berk https://revistas.userena.cl/index.php/codes/article/view/1966 Flipgrid: a digital tool to motivate students to interact with each other in the e-learning environment 2023-11-07T15:10:40-03:00 Amalia Rodriguez revistas@userena.cl Nadia Mendieta revistas@userena.cl Silvana Herrera revistas@userena.cl Liliana Saa revistas@userena.cl
Flipgrid is a dynamic and digital tool that motivates students to interact with their peers in a virtual learning environment. This article presents a descriptive
qualitative and quantitative research that seeks to contribute to student learning.

The study focuses on the use of Flipgrid in the A1-1107 MCER (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment Structured, n.d.) group at the Salesian Polytechnic University in Guayaquil. The objective of the research is to determine if Flipgrid motivates students to express their opinions and ideas in English. A non-probabilistic sample design was applied to 13 students of this A1 level of English, and data was collected through a motivation survey questionnaire and a comparative table of student grades during the semester. The research results answer the question: What is the impact of Flipgrid on student motivation to speak English? The findings show that university students are motivated to create simple and short videos using Flipgrid to speak and discuss in English about a particular topic.
In conclusion, students consider it easier to express their opinions through Flipgrid and have experienced an improvement in their grades.
2023-11-08T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Amalia Rodriguez, Nadia Mendieta, Silvana Herrera, Liliana Saa https://revistas.userena.cl/index.php/codes/article/view/1983 The experience of university students in classes with Universal Design for Learning 2023-11-07T17:05:16-03:00 Dayana Araya Vergara dayana.araya@uda.cl Carola Cerpa Reyes revistas@userena.cl
This study aims to analyze the perception of university students about managing diversity approach in classes using Universal Design for Learning. The study is based on qualitative methodology, phenomenological design and nonprobabilistic, purposive and convenience sampling. A total of 20 semi-structured interviews were carried and the data were analyzed by content analysis, based on
grounded theory, covering the phases of open and axial coding. Students perceive that the use of multiple means of representation improves access to the content; the multiple means of expression match effectively to their abilities, styles and learning preferences; they recognize the teacher's responsibility in generating an environment of respect for heterogeneity, which is fundamental in addressing and valuing diversity; finally, the use of information and communication technologies complements the learning process, but technical failure hinder accessibility.

Based on the results of the study, it is concluded that Universal Design for Learning addresses diversity by promoting equal opportunities for access, expression and participation, enhancing the learning process.
2023-11-08T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Dayana Araya Vergara, Carola Cerpa Reyes https://revistas.userena.cl/index.php/codes/article/view/1912 Inclusion Programs in Higher Education: a Hearing Impairment Perspective 2023-11-06T11:01:14-03:00 Catalina Duarte Soto revistas@userena.cl
Since the enactment of Law 20.422 (2010), universities have developed admission systems that guarantee equal opportunities and social inclusion of people with disabilities, based on the principles of independent living, accessibility and universal design, intersectoriality, participation and social dialogue.

The following research analyzes the implementation of university inclusion programs aimed at Deaf people, from the point of view of managers and students who participate in them. Its design is qualitative, cross-sectional, with a phenomenological approach. Four managers and three deaf students participated, corresponding to the total population of students of the two higher education institutions that participated in the study. The managers and students answered a semistructured interview that addressed the topics of: commitment to learning, aca-
demic leadership, program management and disability support. The results show a high awareness of the importance of inclusion programs that have an impact on
institutional culture, a passive role of administrators and an attribution of greater responsibility to teachers regarding the academic success of deaf people; signifi-
cant divergences are observed in all areas of the study between the discourses given by administrators and students. The objective of this study was to
analyze the level of satisfaction on the part of the students regarding the use of Twitter as a tool for the application of the English language. During the first semester of 2023, the application of the use of Twitter was implemented in the subject "Entrepreneurship and Marketing" in which the teacher, through a comment on Twitter, related the disciplinary content of the subject and later the students expressed their opinions of according to what was seen in class. Among the results, it stands out that more than 50% of the students indicated that the Twitter activity allowed them to implement grammatical structures that they already knew and allowed them to use already known vocabulary. Regarding the use of English, students can practice their language skills in real communication situa-
tions by interacting on platforms such as Twitter, they are able to participate in conversations, ask questions, share ideas and opinions about a certain topic.
2023-11-08T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Ximena Rodríguez Palleres, Natacha Sagredo Carrera https://revistas.userena.cl/index.php/codes/article/view/1925 Academic writing competences for diverse writers: the experience of producing a first-degree work in the post- pandemic 2023-11-06T14:45:35-03:00 Irina López revistas@userena.cl María Beatriz Cifuentes mabecif@uchile.cl Gabriela Cáceres revistas@userena.cl Julio Mella revistas@userena.cl Ana Moraga revistas@userena.cl Felipe Munizaga revistas@userena.cl
Considering the challenges to develop academic writing competence at the university, which have worsened in the post-pandemic context, this study systematizes an experience in progress whose main purpose is to characterize the writing experiences of students who are studying second year of university in the context of preparing their first-degree project. In the first phase, the knowledge and awareness level regarding the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were analyzed among students in Education programs at a public univer-
sity in Madrid, Spain (n=153). The objective of this second phase is to propose different educational, innovative, and research based initiatives to implement the SDGs in teacher education, based on the previously identified needs. The methodology used is quantitative, and the information was obtained through a validated ad hoc questionnaire by experts, with good reliability. The main results show that, despite the high level of awareness among this group of students, further training and practical initiatives are needed to develop sustainability competencies and the abilities to address the challenges posed by the 2030 Agenda. This justifies the proposals that will be carried out in the upcoming academic year as part of the next phase of the study, which will not only transform university education but also enhance the personal development of the students.
2023-11-08T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Marta Gómez-Gómez, Desiré García Lázaro https://revistas.userena.cl/index.php/codes/article/view/1933 Design of a learning methodology for deliberation and knowledge construction 2023-11-06T16:51:53-03:00 Ingrid González Palta revistas@userena.cl María José Guzmán revistas@userena.cl Marval Adones revistas@userena.cl Rocío Contreras Godoy revistas@userena.cl Rodrigo Orellana Sepúlveda revistas@userena.cl Francisco Rivera Badilla revistas@userena.cl
Developing collaboration skills is key in university education. We want students to dialogue, discuss and reach agreements from the knowledge of the discipline, especially in controversial situations. Developing collaboration skills and disciplinary knowledge simultaneously is not easy. One possible way
to do this is by promoting deliberative argumentation (Felton et al., 2009) in students (contrasting and evaluating different and alternative points of view to reach the best possible solution). The problem is that this literature has been poorly developed in higher education, instead we find active teaching methodologies. We maintain that both perspectives are not contradictory and can feed each other. But how to do it? Particularly, what characteristics should a material have, within the framework of an active teaching methodology, to promote both knowledge construction and deliberation? We describe an (instructive) that ad-
dresses both objectives. We explicitly point out the relevant sections and their theoretical-empirical foundation. Specifically, we support the importance of scaffolding the students' dialogue to promote knowledge construction processes, also anticipating those that do not contribute to that purpose. We think that this presentation can help to visualize and imagine the role of language in teaching learning activities.
The
purpose of this research work is to identify inclusive practices in the phases of the educational intervention project in the community. The method is descriptive
with a qualitative approach through the systematization of experience. Two inclusive practices are identified: the participation of the actors in the different phases of the project and the second in the reflection of the didactic proposals from the inclusion. Including infrastructures in the study of urban problems makes appropriate planning and territorial management possible. Thereby guaranteeing a decent standard of
living with a view to the future. The method of learning designed for the teaching of infrastructures is related to the nine most influential theories of UNESCO, from which those of Piaget and Vygotsky are selected with the idea of educating the student not only to be a passive receiver
of information, but a participant interacting with users of the city, and the creator of new mental structures in a specific contemporary context; social experimentation, multiple intelligences and twenty first century skills will give the students a perspective integrated with the rest of their education. This methodology is based on problem-solving and a specific configuration of tasks and classroom management, using vertical surfaces and group work. To assess the potential of this methodology, two rubrics from the OECD were used to evaluate classes for the development of creativity and critical thinking. As a result, it was found that the methodology has the potential to develop creativity and critical thinking by effectively managing the classroom and presenting open-ended problems with high levels of cognitive demand, as suggested by the literature. In Chile, there is not a group of nutrition professors that allows standardizing a level of quality for their graduates. The creation of the Network of Innovation and Research in Teaching for the Training of Nutrition-
ists (RIID) was born as an initiative of academics from different universities to be formalized as an extension project. It currently has 54 participants from
state, public, and private institutions from Antofagasta to Magallanes. In two years of operation, it has achieved various products in the field of teacher train-
ing (webinars, conferences), and research (presentations at conferences and scientific articles). Through evaluations, an institution can demonstrate its level of quality. But evaluating is a complex task since there are
several instruments and informants. In addition, it is necessary to know how and for what to evaluate. In this work we seek to verify the existence of an evaluative culture in a University Center in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil,
working with the self-evaluation or internal evaluation instrument. Through a case study with a qualitative approach, using a semi-structured interview with three focus groups made up of teachers, it was found that some know the subject, but there is a need to install a process of evaluative culture in the institution, extending to the entire academic community.
2023-11-08T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Cláudia Neli de Souza Zambon, Juan Pablo Catalán Cueto, Alejandro Pérez Carvajal https://revistas.userena.cl/index.php/codes/article/view/1998 From theories to practices: advances and challenges in the incorporation of a gender perspective in the curricular and teaching development of undergraduate programs 2023-11-08T09:31:00-03:00 Mariana Gaba desarrollo.curricular@udp.cl Carla Gajardo Poblete desarrollo.curricular@udp.cl Nicole Murillo Núñez desarrollo.curricular@udp.cl
Different reflections have addressed androcentrism and cissexism in curricular proposals (Buquet, 2013; National University of Rosario, 2020), but there is a relative lack of research that accounts for the professional work carried out by the responsible areas within Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to reverse this situation. That is why we consider it particularly relevant and a significant contribution to present a systematization and reflection on the work carriedout by the Directorate of Curricular and Teaching Development (DDCD) and the Gender Department (DG) of the Diego Portales University (UDP). Curricular innovation (CI) involves changes in the curricular structure, which must be continuously monitored through deliberation and participatory co-construction from an epistemic perspective. The purpose of this research is to demonstrate the modeling of an institutional didactic choreography of the diagnosis for CI in 8 undergraduate programs, which encompassed four stages:
Anticipation, Internal Choreography, External Choreography, and Product. In each of the four stages, at least three monthly working sessions were held, in-
volving the management teams, faculty, students, alumni, and external experts.

During these sessions, collaborative analysis and sharing of strengths, opportunities, weaknesses, and threats of the current curriculum were conducted. This modeling allows for collective decision-making in the development of reliable and responsive curricular products, thereby reducing the challenges associated with curriculum redesign implementation. Similarly, working through a participatory process helps moderate resistance to change and foster a sense of belong ing to the educational project, as there is a positive appreciation for expanding levels of participation in decision-making.
2023-11-08T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Carla Gajardo Poblete, M. PM is based on the analysis of the genome to detect mutations in actionable genes and/or the application of specific pharmacogenetic tests, in order to generate specific treatments (personalized medicine), more effective, with less toxicity and safer, as opposed to conventional treatments aimed at the average patient. PM has been developed in the last two decades, mainly in the USA, Europe and recently in Asia. However, in several of these
countries, PM is still in the implementation stage, both at the level of health care providers and health insurance companies. One of the most relevant challenges is to have trained professionals with specific training for the application of diagnostic tests, their interpretation and application in the design of specific treatments and for the follow-up and care of patients. This paper analyzes a series of quantitative and qualitative studies developed in the last decade, where the importance and relevance of the formal inclusion of the teaching of precision medicine in the curricula of health careers and for the training of practicing professionals is reflected.
2023-11-08T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Mario Galindo Galindo, Mónica Ramírez , Baltazar Jana, Solange Soto, Valeria Sabaj https://revistas.userena.cl/index.php/codes/article/view/2076 Transit towards quality in times of crisis. The evaluation of
learning becomes central since the accreditation processes put pressure on the practices themselves. Faced with the challenge of adapting the evaluation to the new context, within an inclusive framework and democratization of knowledge, teachers meet to share experiences and instruments, questioning their own evaluations and adapting and adopting solutions from colleagues. A proposal for virtual workshops developed between 2020 and 2022 encouraged collaborative analysis, production, peer evaluation, and reflection on evaluation practices at six national universities in Argentina. The workshops promoted enriched proposals among peers. The instruments were reviewed from the relevance to the purposes, the clarity in the formulation of slogans, the cognitive challenges demanded and the agreement to be built around assessment criteria.
